Does Coca-Cola and Pepsi have any ingredients related to pigs??
In The Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Compassionate"
Jazakallah for the question brother Titli.
Unfortunately to date there have been many rumours and innuendos with regards to many soft drinks including Pepsi and Coke that have been stated without fact or proof.
However, as of yet we have not received or researched enough into this area to give a full and confident answer to state which drinks we feel are 100% Halal and which are Haram including Pepsi and Coke.
Though there is a lot of information being sent around on this topic; majority of it is once again without fact and proof, thus it makes it that more difficult to sift through what is true and what is simply Chinese Whispers.
What we will say is that these soft drinks are sold both in Malaysia and Indonesia; two countries of which are at the top of the Halal food industry. They are seen as the market leaders in this industry and nearly all Muslim Countries follow their lead when it comes to Halal and Haram guidelines including Saudi Arabia and all the Arab Peninsula. As we work very closely with these two countries when it comes to Halal Certification and Authentication we are confident in their abilities to tell whether a product is Halal or not; if it was not, it would be clearly marked out to be not Halal within the country.
However, they have not gone to the lengths either to clearly state that these products are Halal either; thus once again leaving a question mark next to it.
Thus what we would say is please take caution in what you read and what others say to you with regards to whether a particular product is Halal or not, as majority of the time it is a rumour and not a fact, and if really in doubt leave it out.
Apologies in not being able to give you a straight answer, however, please be reassured as we are working on it and Inshallah we will have a more clear answer soon.
May Allah guide us into making the right decision in everything that we consume. Ameen.
Jazakallah
